Even during the cold of January, our clients at the Garden House were busy planting seeds to create starters for transplanting in May.

And while most of those plants will be dedicated to the Garden House’s annual Extravaganza, many have been reserved for planting in our Giving Garden. There, we have five raised beds into which we will plant a variety of fruits and vegetables that clients can tend daily through watering, weeding and picking. Since the beds are raised and nicely spaced, they’re even accessible to wheelchair users, allowing many of our clients to take part in this enriching and teambuilding activity.

But here’s the best part: Later this summer, when the garden bears fruit, our clients will pick the fresh produce and hand-deliver it to other charitable organizations!
