Follow along with the fun, challenges and beauty of Zoom

Here’s hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  As the teaser for our latest Zoom Group set of holiday cards makes clear in the last post…the big seasonal holidays will soon be upon us.  At our StudioWorks program, we all have been busy getting ready for our Bardstown Road Aglow event on Saturday, December 3.  Once again the Highland Commerce Guild will be organizing this event. For the past several weeks our artists have been busy making great artworks and ornaments.  New this year are these wonderful and affordable hand sewn felt ornaments…but wait…there’s more!

Our artists have also been having fun creating wonderfully colorful silk scarves like the one Della and Susie are displaying.  After the scarves are dyed, they are then washed and ironed…ready to go!

The holiday season readily brings out the smiles for our artists.  Here Nancy Anderson is also happy because she’s also about to celebrate  a birthday!  I believe five StudioWorks artists have December birthdays.  Currently, we are decorating the studio and gallery and have already put up our tree.  It will be a quick turn around between turkey day and the Bardstown Road Aglow event. If you are looking for affordable and original artworks to give, we feel we will be hard to beat!  Here’s a sampling of a few of the many nice works we will be offering to the art loving public.

Julie Baldyga will have a great selection of her oil pastels including this large composition featuring electrical workers.  She has also been very busy creating one of a kind ceramic sculptures and objects.

This is Carol Thorp’s marvelous embroidered horse which is based on one of her original drawings.  Carol has made a few ornaments too and we have some nice paintings and drawings by her as well.

And speaking of paintings…we have a large selection of acrylic on canvas works ready to hang.  Here Marie Vample proudly displays one of her beautiful abstract works she recently completed.  No matter one’s tastes…StudioWorks is sure to have an affordable artwork that will appeal to you.  The art is excellent and the cause is good.  Our artists keep 80% of the final sale price with the remaining 20% returning to the program for material costs.  We will be participating with the other Bardstown Road merchants this Saturday from dusk till 10:00PM.  If you are in the area, please stop by and check out our gallery.  In the short amount of time remaining until our event…we will be busy making art and fine tuning our space.  To close, here is a Amanda working with Josh making ceramic ornaments for the tree.
