that utilize modern techniques to render solid, pop culture images.

This spring, Chimel will have the first solo showing of his work—an event that includes some sizeable costs for materials such as glass, foam board and frames—and everyone has a chance to support this through donations.

StudioWorks director Al Gorman connected with power2give, a Charlotte, N.C.-based organization founded by the Arts & Science Council (also located in Charlotte), that builds bridges between artists and their communities by supporting their work financially. Locally, Louisville’s Fund for the Arts helps facilitate those connections.

Through power2give’s website, artists of all types can feature their projects and gain funding through public and private donations. In Chimel’s case, UPS has stepped up generously to match, dollar for dollar, all donations to his project.

Funds not only help cover costs tied to artists’ work, but administrative costs as well (power2give uses just 12 cents of every dollar for this.)

Materials for Chimel’s show will run $2,500, leaving fans of his work to generously donate $1,250 dollars

StudioWorks will host Chimel’s exhibition in its spacious location at 2008 Eastern Parkway from March 16 to April 20, 2012.
