Professional fundraisers are known to say, “Never equate generosity with crowd size.”

And that old saying proved true at the 2012 Spring Zing annual fundraiser and gala, where despite having slightly fewer attendees this year than last, $58,000 was raised through sponsorship and auctions to match 2011’s record total.

The funds will be used to further Zoom Group’s mission of helping Louisville-area adults with developmental disabilities experience a sense of belonging in the community.

The event, held May 23 at the Olmsted in Crescent Hill, was highlighted by the presentation of the 2012 Awesome Client Award to Daniel Noltemeyer, and a rousing speech delivered by Scott Davenport, head men’s basketball coach at Bellarmine University. WAVE-3 anchor personality Dawne Gee also returned as the event’s favorite emcee.
