Zoom Group wants to congratulate its first-ever and only full-time IT specialist, Mark Taylor, who is graduating ITT Tech Friday with a B.S. in Information Systems Security.

His specialty is one reason why he was hired a year ago to help Zoom Group.

“One thing we really have strived to do is become HIPAA compliant through our computer systems,” Taylor said. “It’s essential that we protect our clients’ information and not have that available to the public. One way we’ve done that is through email encryption.”

When Taylor joined the staff last year, he replaced the outsourcing firm handling the work and focused on Zoom Group’s systems full time. He called the appointment an honor and added that he’s benefitted from the job in ways he didn’t expect.

“The job has helped me grow as a person, in ways not related to my actual work,” Taylor said. “It’s just an incredible organization to work for.”

Since coming aboard, Taylor has acquired computer donations from ITT and upgraded the operating system on the main office’s network. Many machines also were out of date and in need of some intensive therapy, he added.

Asked if life will be any different knowing his name is on a diploma, Taylor said the recognition is meaningful, “but I feel like I still need to grow more in the field. I have some certifications I plan to get in the future and will probably consider going back for my masters in IT. But in the immediate future, I’ll just keep doing my job.”
