Colorado Springs Gazette: Blue Star Recyclers, a nonprofit Colorado Springs, Colo., firm that disassembles electronics and sells them for reuse, has begun hiring adults with developmental disabilities to help with its rapid expansion.
The nonprofit last year won a state grant to start the Vocational Electronics Recycling Network Project, which aims to spread across the state Blue Star’s mission of putting developmentally disabled adults to work through responsible electronics recycling.
The new facility will allow Blue Star to take in high volumes of electronics from project participants like Pueblo and Canon City and, ultimately, hire people who might struggle to find work in the common marketplace.
