GE leaders throw picnic for STAR clients

The Hour: Proof that there are many ways for companies to help people with disabilities … The GE Experienced Commercial Leadership Program recently threw a party for 50 adults with developmental disabilities from STAR, an organization in Norwalk, Conn. The participants enjoyed activities such as Whiffle ball, badminton, horse shoes, bocci and croquet at a park in north Stamford.

The young GE professionals were visiting Connecticut for a leadership conference from corporate job sites around the world, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turksey, UAE, USA and Zaire.

The volunteers spent one-on-one time with STAR clients, who traveled to the a park from more than 20 different locations in Mid-Fairfield County, including their group homes, shared apartments and condominiums, residential homes with their parents and guardians, and other locations.
