Chicago Tribune: The Catholic charitable organization Misericordia hasn’t quite received the warm welcome it hoped for when it bought a $650,000 home in north suburban Lincolnwood last fall for eight developmentally disabled women to live together.
But a representative said that Misericordia, which works with people with developmental disabilities, is determined to build a group home in the near-north suburban community that would allow the women to live in a family-like setting with a small staff and learn basic life and social skills.
The Lincolnwood Plan Commission on Aug. 1 will continue the hearing that began earlier this month when opponents packed the village council chamber.
