Deerfield Review: In January of 2010, Deerfield resident and parent Betty Korey became concerned about employment opportunities for her two sons, both classified as having intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Instead of waiting for opportunities to come her way, she created opportunities when she helped to start Best Futures, a nonprofit organization aimed at creating employment for adults with disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.
“We started as a group and we looked to employ people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Korey, adding they were incorporated as an organization in June 2011.
